Life in the California Boys' Choir

Benjamin Britten's famous composition, "A Ceremony of Carols," written especially for boys' voices, has become a mainstay in the California Boys' Choir repertoire. When first learning the Britten composition in the summer of 1974, the Choir was singularly privileged to have had the opportunity to meet and work with Sir David Willcocks, head of the Royal College of Church Music in London.

Sir David was able to pass on the wishes of the composer regarding the proper pronunciation of the old English verses of "Ceremony." The staging, by Robert H. Rogers, complements and completes the presentation of the work which tells the story of the life of Christ and the power of the naive faith of a child. The costumes and banners were created by David Lane.
